About Me

Cristin Ekhoff, M.Ed, BCBA, LBA

I'm Cristin! I spent more than two decades in public schools — first as a special education teacher, then as a BCBA — walking alongside teachers through some genuinely hard days, doing the tough stuff together. In addition to my special education background and licensure as a BCBA, I am also an OBM specialist and have extensive training in ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Training).

Early in my career, before I carried any of those titles, I was the teacher asking for help. A BCBA came in to support my classroom and spent the whole time in the back corner, clicking a pen, offering nothing. I never forgot what that felt like — expertise in the room with no actual connection behind it. It's part of why I eventually started Easy Peasy Consulting on my own terms and why relationship always comes before strategy for me. I don't believe in walking into a room to be the smartest person in it — I believe in figuring it out together because the people already in that room know their classroom, their kids, and their reality better than I ever will, no matter how many letters follow my name.

Outside of work, you'll usually find me at home with my husband Adam, our dog Cairo, and our small flock of chickens on the homestead we call Wild and Rooted (the forever home we built together), up at our lake house in Michigan, or just spending time with family and friends. Otherwise, I'm usually out camping, fishing, hiking, or baking sourdough, and I've recently been wanting to pick up pottery — something new to be a total beginner at again. However I'm spending it, that time away from work is where I practice the same things I encourage every educator to do for themselves: rest before you're running on empty, not after, and hold to the boundaries that make that possible.

THE STORY BEHIND THE NAME

Easy Peasy Consulting was born from both my professional work and a deeply personal story. For 23 years, I've supported students, educators, and families through some of their hardest moments - navigating complex behaviors, emotional overwhelm, and systems that often feel rigid and exhausting.

I've seen firsthand as a special educator and public school BCBA how heavy this work can feel, and how easily burnout can take hold when people feel alone, unsupported, and overwhelmed.

But the heart of Easy Peasy comes from something even deeper. When my mom was undergoing cancer treatment, I would always tell her, "Easy peasy, lemon squeezy - we've got this, mom!" It became our mantra - a reminder that even when things were incredibly hard, we could face them together with courage, humor, and hope.

That phrase stayed with me long after she passed, eventually becoming a tattoo and a guiding principle for my life and work. Today, Easy Peasy Consulting exists to bring that same sense of calm, partnership, and hope into education.

My goal is not to minimize how challenging this work can be - but to walk alongside educators and families, helping complex situations feel more manageable, more human, and more possible.

Easy Peasy Consulting is an online education, coaching, and consulting platform for teachers, BCBAs, and school and district staff. The Easy Peasy Way, Easy Peasy Open Door, and Easy Peasy Breakthrough are educational and coaching offerings. These interventions are not behavioral in nature and are not covered by my BACB certification. Using these offerings does not create a clinical or professional-client relationship.
